Well, we are here! Happily, our travels to Florida went just fine. We stopped in West Virginia along the way to see Alex and Hannah - they thankfully live far enough from the chemical spill that their water was not affected at all. It was great to spend some time with them, however brief.
We are back on the gulf side this year, though in new territory, so our time (all one and one half days) has been spent buying groceries, getting a library card, joining the local YW - things like that. Last night we went out for a lovely "back in Florida" dinner. It was wonderful! My cellphone photos don't really do our meals justice, but they were delicious.
|We began our meal with lobster fritters - what can I say - lobster fritters! (you can see them in the background) For dinner, I had cedar-planked salmon with potatoes and grilled vegetables - oh my!|
|Bruce had seafood risotto - delish!|
Our leftovers await us for dinner tonight! We will definitely go back to Bridge Street Bistro - it was wonderful.
While our first day here was sunny, today has been overcast and rainy with a cool week forecast. It won't dampen out spirits - we are happy to be removed from our everyday hustle and bustle. Our pace is absolutely our own.
The day after tomorrow is going to be my knitting day. When I signed up for a library card, I saw a sign indicating that a twice-monthly knitting group meets there on Thursdays at 2:00. I had already planned to go to the "group therapy" at A Good Yarn, about 40 minutes south of us, which takes place every Thursday from 6-8. That should take care of me for a bit!
I promise to keep you updated with our adventures, both quiet and boisterous!
