And now for Part II of my day spent with Alex and Hannah at the Shelburne Museum! If you will recall, my really good camera is in the shop. I took along my point and shoot, only to have the battery die about halfway through the day. I then turned to my cellphone camera. Not too bad considering!

This is a Conestoga Wagon. I assumed that it was a Prairie Schooner, but there is a difference. The Conestoga wagon was used to carry merchandise, while the Prairie Schooner was used by pioneers moving west. The Schooner was designed to carry everything a family needed for a long and hazardous journey. https://shelburnemuseum.org/

Folk Art at Stagecoach Inn ~ Shelburne Museum founder, Electra Havenmeyer Webb began to collect American Folk sculpture in 1907 when she was only 18. She saw these as objects of art and understood the importance of form, line, color and texture. https://shelburnemuseum.org/

There are numerous other buildings on site that I have not included here, most notably a new structure, The Center for Art and Education, which is quite remarkable and promises to bring a new edge to the museum.
