"Cape Cod is the bared and bended arm of Massachusetts: the shoulder is at Buzzard's Bay; the elbow, or crazy-bone, at Cape Mallebarre; the wrist at Truro; and the sandy fist at Provincetown." ~ Henry David Thoreau

Another stop every time we are on the Cape is the town of Chatham. Street after street of beautiful homes and a main street that winds its way through the village.  Charming - expensive, but charming!

Chatham has recently begun to dub itself as the "Great White Capital of New England", and with good reason!

We would camp on the Cape for a couple of weeks each summer as I was growing up.  One of the highlights was our Friday night trip to "Band Time in Chatham", which still goes on today.  Penny candy and the freedom to run around - wonderful times!

I returned to my car to find a mermaid decal.  A gift from the man who knows that my alter-ego is a mermaid!
And here he sits!
One of the lovely things about a trip to Chatham is that the drive in and out is littered with bays and inlets, each more beautiful than the last.  This day had us treated to some clammers.

Bruce discovered some empty horseshoe crabs on the shore.
And he decorated a nearby tree.
Another wonderful day!

  4. So, you'll have a place to work when you move there! Love the tribute to the first settlers - I wish every town had that kind of display. Beautiful post!

    1. Wouldn't it be lovely to have a tribute of some kind to the people who paved the way for the communities that we live in?
