"It's never too late to start again, take another breath, and say another prayer, and fly away from here." ~ Aerosmith

For the previous five or six summers, we have been visited by hawks during the month of July. Their nests nearby, we would hear them morning and night, and have the good fortune of having them visit our deck, backyard and roof. Alas - no hawks this summer! I have watched and listened, but there has been no sign of them, and our song-birds have been steadily around. Why the change after all of these years? We have wondered if it could have something to do with the brutal winter, or the wet and warm first part of summer. Regardless, I miss them. They were so majestic and mystical, and had total dominance over their terrain for a month or so. Oh well - I have had to console myself with looking at photos that I had taken for the last few summers. I am going to share some of my favorites below one more time as a farewell - at least for this year!

  1. I love these photos. I enjoy watching some hawks that nest near us but I never get to see them this close. Beautiful.
