"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song." ~ Lou Holtz

I have joked with Bruce that we really need to build a duck-blind out on our deck!  It's pretty difficult to get decent photos of skittish birds when I have to sneak up on them!  The action at our feeders the other day leads me to believe that our hawks are elsewhere.  We may see them again, or we may not. In the meantime - it's nice to have the song-birds return!

So nice!

  1. Oh, well captured! I love the one where they are kind of kissing each other!

Good that you have them back!
PS: Although I liked the hawks, too :)

    1. I love the kissing photo as well - unfortunately - it was a tad out of focus, so I did not make it large.

Now that the weather has cooled some - with windows open, and no fan going - we have heard the hawks in the distance, so we may well see them again before they travel to wherever it is that they go!

  2. They're so beautiful! I don't have a zoom lens on my camera, and so I'm often hating that fact when I see cardinals and bluebirds in our trees. Lovely!

    1. Thanks, Rebekah! I have a pair of binoculars near the window. While I like to capture the birds with my camera, sometimes I just want to enjoy the experience - they are fascinating!

  5. I do enjoy quotes, and find that there is one out there for just about every purpose. In terms of personal favorites, not ones that fit the topic of my posts, I really like:

"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
    Winston Churchill

    And

"Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die." Attributed (in variations) to a number of people, but this particular phrasing comes from Malachy McCourt

Both of these really strike a chord with me.

Wishing you a lovely weekend as well!!

  6. So which photo of Mr & Mrs. Cardinal are you going to enter into a photo competition or magazine? Perhaps the first one, maybe the second? They're all gorgeous.
We have a cat bird who comes out every evening around 5:30 and sits just outside our family room window. I can't tell you how many days I thought it was Stanley.
