“Life is so full of unpredictable beauty and strange surprises." ~ Mark Oliver Everett

Upon returning to my car from the beach the other day, I saw something flopping around on my windshield. At first I thought it was snake - but thank goodness it turned out to be this lively cardinal!  He was clearly intrigued by his reflection and kept pecking at it in the windshield and fluttering around.

He then moved on to the driver's side mirror and continued his infatuation!

~ then off into a tree ~

~ on to the ground ~

~ and back into a tree again ~

I decided that this was my chance to get in the car and see if I could capture some photos from the inside.

~ he didn't take long to return and check out my registration and inspection stickers ~

~ and then just like that - he was gone ~
What fun!

  1. You truly make friends where ever you go! I have to ask - were you hunkered down in your car seat for those last photos? How ever you captured that angle, great job! Such a beautiful bird.

    1. I was indeed hunkered down. It was my good fortune that there was no one else in the small parking lot. There was no one to scare my friend away, and there was no one to witness my somewhat odd looking behavior!
