"I live with one foot in the sand and one in the snow." ~ Henning Mankell

Grandparents' Christmas Postcard #3

As much as I love the beach - and oh I do - I love the snow as well.  There is something so magical about it. It's like being transported to some kind of fairy land.  Of course, I hate to shovel it, or drive in it, or walk for too long in it. But, to view it out my window; to see it swirling 'round, well that I love.

The photo below is taken from an article about Simon Beck, an artist who created intricate patterns in the snow using snowshoes to resemble large snowflakes.  Take a look at the article to see further examples of his remarkable work!

  1. I love snow, too - the kind of snow that absorbs the sounds and radiates peace... At the moment we have an unusual warm week here in Berlin and everything is grey and wet. It only looks good at the moment, when it's dark and all the Christmas lights are turned on...

By the way, this postcard is so cute!

    1. It is a cute Christmas card! We have had two days of steady, fluffy snow, and it is absolutely beautiful outside!

  2. Today is one of those magical winter days. The snow is especially pretty from inside the studio with little twinkling tree lights, candles burning, Christmas music in the background, and sewing machine humming in the foreground! Thanks for the reminder about Simon Beck and his incredible work.

  3. I don't understand snow at all. I have only seen it three times and twice was at the Grand Canyon. I love the beautiful photos of it ...but I don't know ! Now the sand..heaven on earth!
