This past Saturday, Bruce and I headed two hours south to Miami, and to its famed section - South Beach. Known for its active day and nighttime life, the day of our visit was quite chilly and mostly overcast - so there were no "beautiful bodies" on the sand - for which this beach is famous.  However, it proved to be a very interesting and "people watching" place nonetheless.

There are dozens of outside cafes and restaurants - most with some type of heating - welcome on a day like this one!

We came across the filming of a fashion show - so I turned "fashion photographer" for a bit - and it was a lot of fun!

Heading across the street, we began to look for a spot to grab a meal before we headed home.

Big drinks and cigars are the name of the game here!

Oh, and entertainment!

We finally sat down to eat at the Carlyle Cafe, one of the many sidewalk restaurants along Ocean Drive. Bruce and I split a dish called Sapori Di Mare, meaning "flavors of the sea", an accurate description!  Our dish consisted of a split lobster, mussels, clams, shrimp and calamari.  All of this was served on pasta in a red sauce.  It was a messy dish - to be sure, but very good.  Being the huge seafood fan that I am, I was surprised that my favorite part of it was the pasta.  I'm sure that it was handmade - and just delectable in the fishy sauce.
